A Faith-Based Look

Have you ever wondered if you could do this for a living? Sit with families, explain protection in plain words, and help them through their hardest days? If you are asking whether to become a life insurance agent, you deserve an honest picture, not a sales pitch.

First, a small thing. Before you think about protecting other families, make sure your own is covered. Take the 60-second Family Protection Checkup. It is free and takes about a minute.

What the work really is

Mostly it is conversations. You listen. You explain. You follow up. You do paperwork, and you stay in touch after the policy is in place. It is service work that happens to involve insurance.

Who tends to do well

  • People who like talking with people and listening with the intention to help them

  • People who can stay steady when a family is grieving or afraid

  • People who will keep learning and keep following up

  • People who can run their own day without a boss watching

The honest hard parts

Most agents are paid by commission, so income is not guaranteed and it can start slowly. You will hear no. Building a book of clients takes steady effort over time. This work is not for everyone, and I would rather say that now.

Work as for the Lord

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." (Colossians 3:23)

That verse changed how I see the job. The family across the table is not a number. They are someone I am asked to serve well, honestly and patiently.

Because of my personal story of becoming widowed, I know first hand the importance of what we do for families. That's why I stayed in the industry.
